According to the report by public relations of the university, the article by Dr. Mehdi Boghrati, a member of the Faculty for Mechanics Department in Bozorgmehr University of Qaenat, entitled: "Global and straightforward models for viscosity prediction of fatty acid alkyl esters" in the prestigious publication "Journal of the Brazilian Society of Mechanical Sciences and Engineering". It was accepted and published with the validity of "JCR-Q2" and the impact factor of "2.36".
In this research, a general and simple model is suggested to calculate the viscosity of many pure fatty acid methyl esters (FAME) and fatty acid ethyl esters (FAEEs) as the main components of biodiesel. Besides, the free volume theory was studied for the first time by coupling with the group participation method to increase the generality of the estimation. In the current study, a large viscosity database was collected for 32 different fatty acid alkyl esters, representing 1300 data points. The proposed model and the free volume theory had an average absolute relative deviation of 5.05% and 5.49%. The selected models were compared with three models for comprehensive comparison. The results demonstrated that the suggested equation and the pair free volume theory with the group participation method accurately calculates the viscosity behavior of the studied compounds in a wide range of pressure and temperature.
